ISRO NESAC Research Scientist & JR Eligibility Criteria 2026

As per the newly released NESAC Notification 2026, candidates must fulfill the following eligibility conditions. It is imperative that applicants verify their eligibility before appearing for the walk-in-interview, as any discrepancy detected at any stage will lead to immediate disqualification.

Educational Qualification & Percentage Criteria

Important Notes on Percentage:

  • Rounding-off of marks/CGPA grading is NOT allowed.
  • For Grades/CGPA, conversion to percentage of marks will be based on the procedure certified by the respective University/Institution.
  • If the University/Institution confirms no scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence will be established by:
    (Candidate’s CGPA ÷ Maximum Possible CGPA) × 100

National Eligibility Tests Required for JRF Positions

Candidates applying for JRF posts (Post Codes JRF01 to JRF07) must have qualified ONE of the following tests in the relevant discipline and must furnish the year of acquiring qualification along with the score card at the time of interview:

  1. CSIR-UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) including NET-Lectureship
  2. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) conducted by MHRD
  3. Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) conducted by MHRD
  4. Biotechnology Eligibility Test (BET) & Test conducted in Bioinformatics by Bioinformatics National Consortium
  5. Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) / Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology & Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS) conducted by Department of Atomic Energy
  6. All India Competitive Examination (AICE) conducted by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)
  7. State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) conducted on behalf of UGC by the National Test Agency

ISRO NESAC Research Scientist & JRF Walk-in-Interview Process 2026

The North Eastern Space Applications Centre follows a direct walk-in-interview process for the recruitment of Research Scientist and Junior Research Fellow positions:

Step 1: Download Biodata Format

  • Visit the official NESAC website: https://nesac.gov.in/category/career/
  • Download the prescribed Biodata Format
  • Type the Biodata neatly in the prescribed format (Hand-written Biodata will NOT be accepted)
  • Take a printout of the duly filled Biodata

Step 2: Prepare Documents

Candidates attending the walk-in-interview MUST produce:

  1. Biodata (as per prescribed format, typed)
  2. All relevant ORIGINAL documents containing proof of details furnished in the Biodata
  3. A set of self-attested photocopies of all documents
  4. No Objection Certificate (NOC) in original (for candidates already employed under Central/State Government, Public Sector Undertakings, or Autonomous Bodies)

Step 3: Report at Venue

  • Date: As per post code (5th or 6th March 2026)
  • Reporting Time: 08:30 AM (sharp)
  • Venue: NESAC, Umiam, Ri Bhoi District, Meghalaya – 793103
  • Location: 85 kms from Guwahati Railway Station, 18 kms from Shillong

Step 4: Identity Verification

Candidates will be required to prove their identity by showing any Government-issued identity card such as:

  • AADHAR Card
  • Passport
  • Voter ID
  • Driving License, etc.

Step 5: Interview

  • Selection will be purely based on performance in the interview
  • No written examination
  • If required, candidates may have to stay beyond office hours or for the next day at their own expenses
