HP Home Guard Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must fulfill the educational and physical standards to be eligible for the recruitment process. The eligibility varies for General Duty and Technical posts.
A. Educational Qualification:
- For General Duty (Men/Women) & Bandmen: Must have passed 10+2 from a recognized board.
- For Technical Company/Platoon (Electrician, Plumber, etc.): Must be Matriculate (10th Pass) and possess the relevant ITI certificate in the respective trade from an institute recognized by the Himachal Pradesh Government.
- For Armourer: Released personnel of Armed Forces/Paramilitary Forces who have undergone an Armourer’s Course.
B. Age Limit (as on 1st January 2026):
- For All Posts: 18 to 50 years.
C. Physical Standards (for General Duty):
- Male (General): Height 5′-6″, Chest 31″-32″
- Male (SC/ST): Height 5′-4″, Chest 29″-30″

Himachal Home Guard Volunteer Recruitment 2026 Selection Process
The enrollment process for Home Guard volunteers consists of three stages. Candidates who qualify in each stage will proceed to the next.
- Stage-I: Physical Standard Test (PST): Verification of height, chest, and educational documents.
- Stage-II: Physical Efficiency Test (PET): This is a qualifying test involving running, long jump, and high jump as per prescribed standards for men and women.
- Stage-III: Written Test & Merit: A written test of 50 marks covering Hindi, English, Mathematics (10th standard), and General Knowledge (about Himachal Pradesh). Marks are also awarded for educational qualifications, NCC, NSS, Sports, etc., to prepare the final merit list.
